Alban Lanore

Presentation
LanoreEarly in their activity, Alban Lanore and Nanou Grimault would find the wood for their sculptures in Normandy.
But in 1999, a trip to Gabon forever changed their lives and their art, from a both an ethical and esthetic standpoint. Indeed, amazed by the beauty and wealth of forests in Gabon, whose trees can reach a height of 60 meters, they returned to France and began working wood differently, leaving a bigger place for Nature’s artistic bend.
In fact, according to Alban, it is Nature herself who does all the work. Since then, they get their wood in the Amazon forest in French Guyana. Alban and Nanou make a point to never cut the wood they use. They either find wood on the forest floor or purchase the unused cuts from forest concessions.
Another key moment in their lives was meeting Brazilian artist Frans Krajcberg in 2000. Although he’s been living in Paris for 45 years, this discreet and humble man is not only an exceptional artist, but politically committed to defending the preservation of forests in Brazil. His work can be viewed at the Espace Krajcberg, located 21 avenue du Maine in Paris.
Ethical and artistic: two commitments which deeply define their lives and their work.
