Presentation
Born in the Congo and trained as an economist and an interior decorator, the painter gives great importance to discovery of and contact with others, beside long moments of meditation. She portrays herself as a multifaceted creative person.
Attracted by art in its purest form, by the colors and the light of Africa where she spent her first fifteen years, the artist travels nowadays intensively in Asia.
From her childhood, she always held a pencil or a paintbrush in hand. Her first works were highlighted with gouache or ink.
For long years later on, she painted watercolors of figurative subjects always inspired by her travel and the landscapes discovered.
She attended artists’ workshops and, most notably, the Ateliers Malou for a few years in Brussels.
Having used ink or acrylic paint on paper for numerous works, she has now opted to paint on canvass, although she produced a few works on board or cardboard.
For the last ten years, she turned to abstract art. She uses the technique of “glacis” that gives depth to the works.
If the artist’s source of inspiration has remained unchanged, its “readability” has obviously faded, leaving nowadays more freedom for the interpretation of her works.
Most recently, Bernadette Reginster stayed in the Baie de Somme, in Saint Benoît sur Loire and in the Ardennes to paint ‘in situ’, inspired by nature, the sea and the fields.
While traveling, she also takes numerous photographs… endless source of inspiration and exquisite memories.
Some paintings are already in private collections in the USA , in the Netherlands and in Belgium.
